Our Favorite Spaces Decked for the Holidays

‘Tis the season for holiday decor - and our favorite time of year at Delphinium Design! The holidays are all about decking the halls, trimming the tree, and embracing the joy and festivities that make this time of year so special. From baking holiday cookies and cozying up to watch a favorite Christmas movie to driving through Charlotte’s neighborhoods to admire the sparkling lights, it’s the season to create lasting memories with loved ones. That’s why we’re making holiday decorating simple and enjoyable, so that there is time to focus on what truly matters.

We are happy to share some of our favorite projects decorated for the holidays. Whether it’s a festive living room or a kitchen prepped and ready for hosting, we hope that some of our spruced up spaces inspire you and spark ideas when it comes to your own holiday decorating.

O’ Christmas Tree

For us, the Christmas tree is the undeniable star of holiday decor. As the centerpiece in the room, we love making it a standout feature while also ensuring that is compliments the space beautifully. A simple way to make your tree fit seamlessly into your space is by coordinating its colors with your existing decor. In our Asheford Green project, we drew inspiration from the blues and greens in the furniture and window treatments, incorporating these hues into the tree, gift wrapping, and even the candles on the mantel—creating a cohesive, festive look throughout the room.

And The Stockings Were Hung

When we think of Christmas and the holiday season, we think of glowing fireplaces and stockings hung with care. That’s why the mantel is one of our favorite spaces to decorate! We like to keep it simple, yet elegant, when it comes to trimming a fireplace mantel. All you need is a touch of pine garland, a few pinecones and some candles to spruce up the space. In our White Christmas living room, we took it a step further by adding a beautiful wreath over the existing mirror to complete the look. Of course, no mantel is complete without the final touch — the stockings! Whether they coordinate with your home or are family heirlooms passed down, stockings can finish off the space with a personal touch to your holiday decor.

Hosting & Toasting

The holidays are meant for hosting and toasting, which is why we always add a sprinkle of decor to our kitchens and home bars! Since our families naturally gather in the kitchen, we like these spaces to be festive and fun, too. Our go-to items are holiday-themed charcuterie boards, seasonally appropriate produce and floral arrangements, and maybe even a wreath or garland to tie everything together - which can be seen in our Finding Forever On Abingdon and Firethorne Kitchen projects.

Deck The Halls

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without decking every hall, staircase, and table with some festive decor. When it comes to adding touches of holiday items, we love keeping it simple yet impactful. A few well-placed decor pieces, like seasonal greenery, twinkling lights, and festive accents, can instantly transform a space and bring the magic of the season to life. In our Dansing On Providence project, we added beautiful velvet green ribbon to the garland to elevate the staircase. The garland adorned with bells and reindeer in the foyer of our Life On Longview project makes for a warm and inviting entrance. A few decorative accents on the sideboard in our Made In Montibello project perfectly compliment the colors in the space.
